Alessandro Papetti Italy, b. 1958

"This is his most specific stylistic code: lingering in a border area, a crevasse, in the boundary that separates oblivion from memory. And this is so not just in his relationship with his masters and with the memory of art history. All Papetti's artistic work speaks of the precarious balance that joins and separates the time of memory from the time of oblivion" - Massimo Recalcati

Alessandro Papetti depicts in an almost monochromatic range empty interiors, industrial archaeology, shipyards, urban landscapes and portraits or studies of nudes, frequently from a high-angle perspective. Over the years, these themes have led him to explore new cycles like water, forest and wind. Through a very gestural painting, he attempts to capture the moment like a photographer and to record an elusive and more and more interiorized reality.
