The "Beautiful Flesh" poetry collection has a very special place in the work of Emile Verhaeren. Posthumous edition of 1931, it is distinguished by its sensuality and its glorification of the female nude. This classic theme, almost universal, corresponds perfectly to the work of Michael Bastow: for several years, he has promoted the female nude as his main theme. For this exhibition at Emile Verhaeren Museum, Michael Bastow displays a series of watercolors that enters in dialogue with Verhaeren's poetry. A new edition of "Beautiful Flesh" has been released with illustrations by Michael Bastow on this occasion.
