Marcos Uriondo⎜Lilies of the Valley

art-exprim⎜Paris

On the occasion of the independent prize awarded by art-exprim during the 69th edition of Jeune Création, the association invites the artist Marcos Uriondo to present his work during a solo show entitled Lilies of the Valley.

The artist develops a practice that constantly plays between the idea and its textual representation in a caustic and offbeat tone. For this exhibition, in the year 46 after Steve Jobs, Marcos Uriondo uses the flexible and malleable material of silicone as a metaphor for the immateriality of new technologies and the ultra-productivity of its super-employees.

Lilies of the Valley is a valley of silicone flowers evoking the famous bay of San Francisco. Silicon Valley, at the heart of the artist's words, is the subject of an exercise of absurd and ironic poetry since he himself confesses that he has never been there.

Through this metaphor, Marcos Uriondo highlights the new human condition in the digital age: the dematerialization of work, the fever of the entrepreneurial spirit, the technological dystopias, the wishful thinking or even the toxic masculinity.
